Girls Track: West Aurora’s Spagnola gets jump on the field

West Aurora junior Emma Spagnola led area 3A competitors by qualifying for Saturday’s finals in three individual events. She’s ranked first among 12 finalists in the long jump (18-9.25), second of nine in the 100-meter high hurdles (14.55) and fourth of nine in the 300 hurdles (44.02).

West Aurora junior Emma Spagnola is verbally committed to Northern Illinois University for softball, but Saturday in Charleston, she made a statement that track doesn’t take a backseat. Spagnola personally accounted for 26 team points in by winning the long jump (18-9) and setting personal records in finishing second in both the 100 high hurdles and 300 low hurdles.
